Supply List

It is very important that you have these supplies on time!

Some find it easier to get everything at once.

Everything should fit in your classroom tote tray!

Patterns are provided by the teacher.

Third Term

Basic Equipment

(needed by 1/30/2012 with your name on each item)

  • seam gauge
  • seam ripper
  • marking pencil or pen
  • straight pins (preferably with plastic heads)
  • pin cushion or pin magnet (to hold pins)
  • hand-sewing needles
  • fabric scissors
  • safety pins (2-3)
  • storage container (about the size of a small pencil box)

Small Zipper Bag (needed by 2/3/2012)

  • 2 "fat quarters" cotton woven fabric
  • coordinating 7" zipper
  • 2 buttons
  • 7" of ribbon
  • matching all-purpose thread

Apron (needed by 2/13/2012)

  • 1 yard cotton woven fabric
  • matching all-purpose thread

Pajama Pant (needed by 2/27/2012)

  • 2 1/2 or 3 yards 45" wide cotton woven fabric (or flannel) OR 1 1/2 yards 60" wide cotton woven fabric (or flannel) less if making shorts, OR more if you are tall
  • matching all-purpose thread

Fourth Term

Haan Craft Kit (paid at office by 3/12/2012)

  • each student chooses a kit from the Haan Craft company catalog and pays at the school finance window
  • the teacher places a group order

Quilt Block (needed by 4/19/2012)

  • 3/8 yard Main print, woven cotton fabric (this should be your favorite)
  • 1/4 yard Neutral print, different woven cotton fabric
  • 1/8 yard Accent print, different woven cotton fabric
  • 1/2 yard Pillow back print, can match any of above or be muslin
  • matching all-purpose thread

One Project of Your Choice (needed by 5/7/2012)

  • simple pattern (bag, pieced pillow, skirt, or shirt)
  • fabric yardage and notions requirements listed on the pattern envelope

*Some fabric stores offer a 10-15% discount on student projects! It doesn't hurt to ask!

*Please do not feel the need to spend an excessive amount of money on these supplies. Ask grandma or neighbors if they have any fabric they will donate to you. Another idea is to use sheets from home or purchase some inexpensively at a thrift store.
